ROUTE DESCRIPTION

The pixueta coast is a little-known corner of western Asturias, but beautiful and wild in equal measure. The western part of Cabo Vidio is full of imposing cliffs that house between their walls small coves and beaches of great scenic beauty. The cape itself is already a monument to nature and the sea, with walls about 90m high that fall vertically towards the sea on its eastern side. We invite you to discover this beautiful corner of Asturias: you will not feel indifferent. The route visits a large number of beaches and coves, so that the cyclist can get to know the area.

The route leaves from our campsite, from which we quickly take the Camino de Santiago until we reach the Concha de Artedo beach. We take a detour to drive along its promenade at the foot of the beach, and then go up the road towards Lamuño. From here, we take a track that will take us to see the hidden but beautiful beach of Oleiros. From here, we go back up the track to the road to descend towards the beach of San Pedro. We cross the Esqueiro River and walk along its banks along a beautiful path to the beach. From here, take a path that goes up from the beach to the surroundings of Oviñana. We cross the town and take a path with spectacular views of the western coast: we are about to reach Cabo Vidio.

Once we have enjoyed the incredible environment that surrounds us, we proceed to take the same path by which we arrived. Passing the La Cueva beach car park, we continue parallel to the coast. A little further on, we have two small parts of the technical path: the first is some zetas with loose stones and a small but steep climb; the second, an inclined ramp with a couple of slightly difficult curves. They are two very short parts and if they look too complicated they can always be done on foot.

Once this part is over, we find a beautiful balcony overlooking the Vallina beach. From here we have to drive towards the town of Valdredo. From here, we go down the track to the border between the beach of Vallina and Campizales, to discover another beautiful coastal corner. We go up again on a short but hard slope in the vicinity of Albuerne, from where we begin the beautiful descent by path to the Saliencia cove.

Once at this point, we ride to the town of Novellana and begin the return to our campsite along the N-632a.
